what to look for???

hi new here but im looking to buy a surf either a 3.0TD or petrol and was wondering what to look out for in a second hand model from 1990-1994 as i have no idea. also how much would it cost to replace a cam belt as i have heard that they sohuld be changed about every 66,000 miles.
