  • Advice ?

    Guys,,

I'm looking to go surfing for the first time very soon.

We have a private dealer near Edinburgh who has some "quality" units,, quoted straight from the press

Now as we all know, prices for vehicles up here in Scottie land are much better than my European friends down south of the border,, but....... he has a surf "J" plate, 50k miles, excellent cond and all for £4995.

    NOW !

I dont have any pics of this,, and i have not seen it, YET , but from what i have read here,, thos is either a superb deal or it has a fiesta engine in it, with bald Pirelli's.

Any thoughts,, could it be right ?? Perhaps one of the resident specialists could shed some light.

    thanx

    Look here http://www.yotasurf.co.uk/Forums/showthread.php?t=1497
Might be worth travelling for especially with its head being done, but anyway a 'J' plate at 5k was about the norm when I was looking.

I paid 6300 for my surf from a place in Kilmarnock, its also a 92 J.2.4td.
That was 8 months ago and i,m still smiling.
Like the guys say , if your happy with the price and condition then go for it.
try and get them to underseal it as pat of the deal.

I paid £4250 for my J 2.4 SSR-X Auto with something like 53, 000 miles on it back in June. It was a kind of "trade sale" even though I'm not in the trade. All that seems to mean to me is that the guy hadn't bothered to clean it! Personally to save £750 I was more than happy to run the jet wash over it myself and spend an hour or two with the hoover and a duster inside! You couldn't describe it as "mint", but for an 11 year old truck it's pretty slick.

I guess, as a trade sale, you'd be expected to do all the fluid flushes and filter changes yourself, but I reckon every person on here has done that within the first month or so of ownership for their own peace of mind regardless of whether the dealer has said it's been done or not. Well worth a few oily hours upside down on the road to know it really has been done - and I'm the least mechanical person you're gonna find on here, well, apart from Linda that is!!

At the end of the day, buying a 2.4 is a bit of a gamble, but then so is buying any 10 year old vehicle and you don't see too many web forums with 500 members extoling the virtues of the series 1 Nissan Micra now do you?!!

Ooops.... think I leant on the "RANT" key there..... I'll get my coat!
