  • Adding turbo?

    Hi all,
I've searched and not been able to find any threads on this...

Anyone ever add turbo to a non-turbo engine? (89 3lt 4dr pickup). Someone mentioned they had done this to a landcruiser.

    Thanks,
    Keegan

Not sure mate. I think you can fit a turbo to most engines, but if you do it to a standard engine, some of the bits might want up-rating.

Sounds like a big job. I had a brief chat with a landcuiser guy who figured it wasn't too big a thing to do for that truck.. thought it was worth looking at...

          Thanks again for the thoghts

Ummmm...Am I the only one to ask if this is a Diesel or Petrol, I know you guys over in Canada and the U.S have heaps of gas burners but very few oilers.
            If diesel then 'blow it'
If petrol........ask someone else....I can't help ya, but there are plenty of clever guys here who might.

Nigel who owns LA Supertrux had a 2.8lt extra cab import pickup that I think he fitted a turbo to.

I think he was suppling kits, try sending him an e-mail.

How things have changed, when I was a kid, a 'blower' was a supercharger.
