I have been sent this picture by a Japanese car dealer , they were trying to sell me the vehicle at a knock down price , and they claimed that the mileage was 71,000 km , trouble is that's not what it shows in the picture , needless to say I wont be using them and never have .

Just one small point
Did you query whether they were quoting 71k kms or miles? It looks like 101,000 kms on the dash, which would equate to maybe 70k miles. I don't know the exact conversion rate and can't see the actual mileage, it's just that I know mileage is roughly two thirds of kilometers.
Maybe they made a genuine mistake. Maybe you asked and they were still telling porkies. I would have just made them a lower offer!
