  • Rear speakers

Hi peeps, Back speakers in my surf have died, no sound. Have they got a fuse or are they wired direct to the radio. Had a look at the back of the radio all looks ok, no lose wires.

The speakers at the back run off their own amplifier. The amplifier is powered by the same circuit that puts the aerial up/down, so if the aerial is down, there is no power to the amp, and thus they don't work. On my Sony head, if I'm listening to my MP3 jukebox or MD, I have to press the AF/TA button which turns the radio on so it can scan for traffic reports while I continue to listen to my music.

If the AMP really is knackered/not working, then I'm sorry I can't help. Don't know where it is, but it's probably buried somewhere near the rear speakers behind the body panels.

If you have a SONY head unit look for the A-F button as this turns rear speakers off when listening to CD'S
