I usually have a mix of what my band is learning, currently:

          Toxicity - SOAD
No one knows - Queens Of The Stone Age
Holiday & When September Ends - Green Day
Girls & Boys - Good Charlotte (anyone familiar with "So You Want To Be A Rock 'n' Roll Star" by the Byrds?)
          Solitary Man - Him
          Vertigo - U2
          Tribute - Tenacious D
Mission Impossible Theme & My Way - Limp Bizkit
          It's Been A While - Stained
Stacey's Mom - Fountains Of Wayne
Somebody Told Me - The Killers
Take Me Out - Franz Ferdinand

When I get tired of the repetition, I currently love:

Still Fighting It - Ben Folds (the height of the Surf helps hide the fact that I'm crying from other drivers. If you have kids, this song is essential. The whole video is at http://www.benfolds.com/ in the "footage" section.
Any Pearl Jam, but the best mix is their Live On Two Legs CD - it really rocks.
Road Runner - Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers (if I was to be stranded in the Surf with just one track, this'd have to be it)
Gamal - Zainal Abidin (the whole CD)
          I'm Mandy, Fly Me - 10CC
Moon Safari - Air (the whole CD)

Once you start listing, it's hard to stop.

          Rich 1

I can't get into Slipknot - where's the melody? The tune? Fantastic playing (specially the drummer), but no tune.

Now SOAD have it all - melody, HEAVY, technical, original sound - the lot.

It's interesting that most of us seem to like some variation of rock music. Cool.

Good taste mate for the band, intro to Toxicity is amazing.
"Soil - Breaking Me Down" is another good one.
            Anyone like Staind?

I can't too much of the really heavy stuff I listen to oads of other stuff too especially in the car, pretty much most things, Prodigy always goes down well

Reading all of the posts I think it would be far to say that most of us listen to Rock music I also listen to Rock I don't have any probs as my family like the same music as me. 1 thing I have noiticed is the boot makes a good sub woofer so when you are @ traffic lights and some backside pulls up beside you in a corsa you can drowned him or her out when you drop the back window. It great fun to see the look on there faces He He He.
The wheels on my Surf go round and round

Excellent! You must be the same vintage as me. Haven't heard Radar Love for years - great one. A bit of Cozy Powell, Fleetwood Mac and Sultans of Swing and I'm gone.

as usual i'm a bit slow picking this one up........ great thread tho.

the most commonly found cds playing in the surf are.

                      aerosmith - honkin' on hobo
                      speedway - save yourself
guns and roses - greatest hits
the jayhawks - rainy day music
AD/DC - dirty deeds done dirt cheap
                      sarah mclachlan - surfacing
                      neil young - ragged glory
neil young - rust never sleeps

but then again this list could change daily.....
so much music, so little time.

                      see ya'll
