I was almost taken in and tempted to send a donation. We have all done stupid things after a few drinks. My sense of humour can be a bit perverse and some things said or done are not in the best of taste. (Colleague falls asleep on tube platform so I hang a, "Homeless and hungry," sign round his neck. £4.74 in donations later he wakes up furious.)

Surely you can see that your, "Joke," has upset some people. Personally I am not offended because you have come clean that it was you. An apology to those offended will get you off the hook.
