  • Reverse camera and roof bars

    Morning gents,
2 questions for all those experts

1: Whats the revese angle like on these wee cameras you can buy off ebay (best i found is 120deg), i.e. how close to the car does the object have to be before i cant see it?
i.e. can i see a bollard 10cm diameter placed 10cm from the corner of my rear bumper.
My maths works out that I wont be able to see anything if its closer than 55cm so you wont be able to see the bollard!!!!(based on the surf width being 1906mm and the camera being in the middle)

    2. anyone got these
    roof rails
    are they any good?
Oh and because it has to look nice, has anyone got a picture please

    Cheers
    Guys

The reversing camera I fitted is suprisingly good.
I have it located on the rear bumper opposite side from the hatch mounted spare, cant see the spare when camera is on but the line of vision is very good (this really did suprise me)
I wired it upto a switch rather than the reversing light, gives me the option to have a look whats behind me at any time has it's advantages when the other half isn't in the car

wow bushwhacker I really like them might have to go have a look, did you strengthen the roof at all or what was the trick? and please could I see a picture of the roof so I can see how close to the edge they are? Thank you very much

Thanks also to Kazam401, been thinking plus chatting to a couple of guys at work and I am liking the reverse camera now. Bit of a long story but my dad broke my rear spoiler (well actually it was one of those air/dust things not a JDM one with brake light) so I have 4 holes in the back roof where it used to sit, as a jdm spoiler is impossible to get and I did not really like the old spoiler I might mount the camera up there, that way I should get a really nice view of my back end, the only down side is I cant look who is in the car behind unless i change the angle slightly then I will probably get a really good view or the person behinds chest

check out ebay, the home of everything!!!! (well apart from food shopping they dont do that yet)

Just try reverse camera or reversing camera and you will get loads, 99% imported from taiwan or some where similar, however everything I have ever bought over the net from somewhere like that I have always been very happy with.

Here are some pics. the roof rails are from a Peugeot 406 estate, and I think Escort estate rails are the same as these.

p.s. The cross bars are home made from an old ladder, srayed with satin black Hamerite and I used exhaust clamps to secure them to the rails.
