    ok, nowadays power's quoted in PS and not HP/BHP... what's a PS???

                    It stands for 'pferde staerke' (i kid you not...); it's german for horse power.

                    I suspect that this may be as it's worth knowing the power of german (and japanese cars) but for pretty much everyone else it's moot, as they make rubbish cars.

                        my old cavalier was german and rubbish!!... my old rover was japanese and great! (except when the head gasket went!)

                          Horsepower, Imperial HP The power needed to raise 550lbs at a speed of one foot per second = 745.7 Watts

                          One PS is therefore about 98.6% of one bhp
