Amp or no amp

hi peeps,
i think i may have an amp wired up to my sony cd player ..not sure.
when you turn the ignition key to first click radio comes on then go another click and the radio then sounds loads better....more bass,and louder.

THE QUESTION IS IS THIS STANDARD AND WHERE THE HECK IS IT ???

The rear speakers have a amp, it lives next to them.
