  • Overdrive.

This question has probably been here before, for that I apologise, but I have read my manual, and talking to another owner, I have confused myself, and so
think I am driving in the wrong mode. The manual is as clear as mud

NORMAL MODE = 4 GEARS O/D LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON DASH
OVERDRIVE MODE = 3 GEARS O/D LIGHT NOT LIT ON DASH, MEANING I AM IN OVERDRIVE

So when I am cruising on the motorway for about 600 miles my orange O/D
light will be lit on the dash giving me 4 gears??????

    Sorry again

OD light says "O/D OFF" so when that is on you have no overdrive.
When its not on is normal driving. I hope for your sake you have been using it

Thanks Dog for your input, whilst waiting I found a post explaining it fully and I have been driving it correct.

Light on in town and light off on the motorway.

      Thanks again.

Good man - I leave OD on all the time but sometimes take it off on the slow and twisties.

With O/D OFF, you have 3 gears.
With O/D ON (ie indicator NOT illuminated) you have 4 gears and over 55mph the torque convertor will lock up effectively giving you a 5th.

In general, leave it ON and forget about it.
