I'm getting more & more interested in this veggie oil thingy but i've heard mixed reports of running a 3rd gen on it.

Will it run in mine without buggering up the pump/filters etc. I would rather not risk it as a pump means me selling the other kidney!!!

Anyone running veggie in a 3rd gen????:

AFAIK, the KZN engine (3 litre) is the same, whether it's in a Gen 2 or a Gen 3.

Therefore, you shouldn't have any problems..
          It just does, OK?

              Veg Oiler

No problems in 3.0 for over a year on 20% at least.
Try 20Ltr drums of Soya oil from your local cash and carry. They often have an offer on this to keep the small restauranteurs custom. Around 42p a Ltr is common. Often packed in a "bottle in a box" the bottles are less obvious than the 3Ltr supermarket version and the box bit goes in the recycled paper. Use the plastic jug for saving the rain water from your diverter in these globaly warmed times! Smell, of course it smells. So does diesel or any other fuel in common use. Now if I could make it smell like diesel !?!
Yes! It's still in the garage. M1ROD

                Party Pooper.

Hate to tell you, its highly unlikely you will only pay 27.1p duty, as about 6 months ago, they said anyone using veg oil not transesterified should pay 47.1p. Even if oil is 45p its more than diesel at the pump. I paid 92.1 p at supermarket yesterday.
At present on 5th fill up of diesel on my new 3rd gen, so probably one more diesel fill up, then down to Tony to fit Combo and then back to veg oil.
Hopefully will then have rough idea between diesel and veg oil with Combo.

Its actually gone up to 54p a litre tax in the new budget for svo... but it looks like the WVO is going down to 27p.

If i understand it properly, just filtering WVO is not enough to get lower rate of duty, it must have the glycerol taken out (transesterified).
Once again on the news, they are on about 4x4's and polution. When i tried to ring, you couldn't get through. If this and probably the next Government, were not such criminals going on about saving the planet, as long as it doesn't cost them anything, then i am sure every diesel owner would happily use 10-20% SVO or WVO, which i believe any diesel cat could run on.
In one foul swoop, we would reduce harmful emissions by 10-20%
To be honest, i feel sorry for people who have paid for the two tank kits and the like and then find out that their duty has been raised to 54p.
Also i am sure the Government have turned many people into criminals by not paying in full, the higher duty. Evading duty, is next to commiting murder, or probably worse. They, the Government, have probably shot themselves in the foot. If they lowered the duty to say 20p, thousands more would apply to use veg oil.
                    Rant finished.

                      Hello Gents,

Can I use veg oil in my 94 3.0 lt TD without modifying it? I just put a mix of veg oil and diesel and am sorted? It does no damage to the engine?

Sorry for my question if its amateur, I am a new happy owner

You've found a very old thread here, but the answer is yes. Try about 50:50 diesel and veg oil mix in and you're fine. We're talking 'fresh' oil here, obviously. If you wanted to use waste oil, you'd need to bugger about with it first. See here for more info:

Best to check the dates as the OPs might have long since left the site, or indeed this life!

Without admitting anything if you get my drift I understand that there may be some on here who may just do that, 50/50 cold weather and up to 100% when warm works for a very 'good friend' of mine

no need to register anymore but just keep all reciepts and a record of whats used for 6 years. You can use 2500 litres a year without notifying C&E
