insurance query

Can anyone help?
when you apply for car insurance and they ask for est annual mileage can they use this against you if you go over and have a claim?
not that i ve had an accident

I would'nt have thought so, how would they know how many miles showing on your odometer now.
I always put down 4000 miles, it does'nt ever get questioned.

They will see your MOT with previous mileage on it.

I have only ever had NU ask me this one. I looked at the small print and it also said "not covered for commuting," whatever that means. Does that mean I can't use my car to get to and from work. When I asked them for clarification they didn't seem to know, so I cancelled the policy before it began.

My current insurer didn't ask how many miles I would be doing. They didn't insist that I keep it garaged, although when I volunteered that I garage it at night, when I am at home, they gave me a small discount. They were a good £100 cheaper than NU too. I still got stuffed for having an LU3 postcode though.
