New to Forum - 91 Hilux surf 2.4 2lte auto - crank no start looking for advice
Hi guys my names Ryan im 26 and have been tinkering away with my surf trying to get it going, i bought it off a guy with a cracked cylinder head and have decided to put it all back together then fix the head and other issues it has (cosmetics) but cant get it going got fuel to the injectors but no smoke out the exhaust and wont start, cranking good as ive replaced the starter and one of the batterys.
seems like its getting the fuel to the injectors but not actually injecting what type of flow/pressure do u need mines was spraying right over the wing when i was bleeding them
is it worth taking them out and cleaning/testing them.
head has been torqued and new gasket can hear good compression through the exhaust and feel it when barring it over by hand
i have also checked the timing a few times and the pump timing hasnt changed even when i toke it out i dimpled.
this is my first time working on a automotive diesel used to work on ships so not clueless but was running about a month before i got it and the guy removed the head.
My first car (still have it is a 998 mini) so more clued up with petrols but learning loads but feeling stuck so any time to give me some advice or things to check would be greatly apricated.
could it just be a case of replace pump and injectors?
forgot to say checked fuses all good and glow plug light is turning on then turning off after a normal period.
changed fuel filter too
did the paperclip diagnostic port thing to check the codes and only showing 1 which was normal.
anyone in the glasgow, scotland area or know any good mechanics nearby?

- fuel to injectors but no white smoke when cranking
- bled the fuel pipes and primed pump
- tried to adjustment on top of the spill control valve and still no difference
- had pump out and all looks good but not sure if i am missing something obvious would need to save for a new pump and the idea of replacing the pump and it not sorting it would really sting i have also disconnected the battery for a few hours to try sort any issues relating to the ecu but no bueno
