  • Correct wheel offset

    Hello all,

New to owning a Surf and looking for some advice. I bought a 1998 Surf (gas) and recently purchased a ToyTec 2.5-2" Boss Suspension lift. After installing the front coilovers I noticed that my stock UCA is very close to the tire. I am currently running 7.5x17+30 stock hilux wheels with 265/65/R17 tires. I did order SPC adjustable upper control arms, they are just on backorder at the moment. So I decided to put 1.25 spacers on the front and gained some more clearance for now, but would like to order new wheels instead to remove the spacers. I am living in Japan and some wheel options are difficult to find.

I did come across a set of Method wheels that are 9.0x17-6 and am wondering if with these + SPC adjustable UCA's - would I be able to run 285/70/R17? Or would I still need a more negative backspacing and/or spacers? Im not sure how that 9" wheel would change things against the 7.5" I have on there now.

    I greatly appreciate any info.

You should be able to run 285/70/R17 with the Method 9.0x17-6 wheels and SPC adjustable UCAs, but the increased width may require some additional trimming or adjustments to avoid rubbing. The 9" wheel will offer better clearance compared to your 7.5" stock wheels.Good luck!
