1992 2.4td reliability

Hey guys,
looking at a cheap surf tomorrow (£1000) for greenlaning.
its a 1992 2.4td manual
i read about head issues. Should i avoid this 2.4? Owner is not aware of any head work being done but it is 27 years old and has covered 210,000km's.
other than that i am also looking at a 3.1 trooper?

Just wondering if the 2.4 is likely to cause engine reliability issues.

Go for the 3 litre diesel surf which was made from 1993 onwards.

£1000 isnt cheap for a 2.4td

The 3 litre isn't immune to head issues, nor is any engine, but its a much better engine

i cant find and 3l for anywhere near 1000.

Might be better looking at the 3.1 trooper ive seen instead then?

Ill keep my eyes open.
