Aircon stuck on heat

Hey I have a 1997 hilux surf ssr x. The aircon need re gassing I knew that but now it’s stuck on heat when it’s switch to cold.
does any one know where I should start and what to replace first???

I'd start by looking at the heater controls on the dash to check they're operating correctly.
