            sorry - completely wrong!

sony would not licence other manufacturers to use the betamax format, JVC licenced VHS to anyone who asked, and so the war was won by strength of numbers. Much the same way that Apple would not licence its software and Bill Gates did, hence more people got fooled into buying windows!

(plus my friends dad had a betamax machine and a rather large porn collection!)

There are some good gaffs in Gladiator.....during the chariot race, one of the chariots flips overs, and you can clearly see the oxygen cylinder and plumbing works for the air cannon inside.
There is also an early morning scene at the head of the film, where a horse is walked through the shot and as it passes you can see a guy wearing a black bomber jacket and jeans in centre of frame

In the widescreen version of "Duel" you can see Stephen Spielberg in the back seat with a video camera.

In Star Wars (the original film), when the stormtroopers run in to capture the droids on the deathstar, one of the stormtroopers on the right smacks his head against the blast door.

And did you know that in Episode 2: Attack of The Clones there's George Lucas's tribute to that when Boba Fett bangs his head on the door as he gets in his ship after the fight with Obi-Wan. (just over an hour in if you want to check!)
