I just wanted to know if it is possible to change the 2.4 engine for the later 3.0 lump or is there a v8 kit that can be used with the auto box (I've seen them for the manuals)

It needs all the loom including ECU & other parts its a very expensive option.

the reason I'm asking is that I want to tow a car transporter trailer and after reading a few comments on the forum it isn't the best for towing.

I have been looking for a 3.0 but I have seen a mini monster truck type surf but it's only a 2.4.

You can only tow upto 2 tonnes legaly anyway. I tow nearly a 1 3/4 tonne ABBEY SPECTRUM twin axle caravan with my 2.4 SURF with no problems

hiya i tow a 20 foot 5 beth lunar caravan with out any problems plus for work i have been towing a cable dispensing trailer ( 1 1/4 ton ) off road all week with no probs and occasionally a 1.25 ton cherry picker with a auto 2.4 surf more power is fun but why go over the top . good luck
