Gearbox or clutch problem??

I’ve added this to general in the hope that the wider audience might be able to help:
I’m not a happy bunny
; pulled out of my drive went to select second a got a very nasty grating noise and little or no drive. The problem effects all gears but the clutch feels fine and gears select as normal, I tried 4wd but no change. The car is now un drivable –had to be towed to the local garage, as long as it’s not the clutch I’m covered by my warranty. Has anyone had anything similar happen? Suggestions as to what it might be? Know where I can get a replacement manual gearbox (is it the same as 2.4?)or transfer box if necessary (is the transfer the same as auto 2.4??)
