  • How much does it weigh?

    Hi,

Basically, silly question, I want to get a trolley jack, should I get a 2 tonne one, or a 3 tonne one?

    Cheers in advance

Get both. I often find it usefull to have two jacks (e.g. raising a lowering rear axle when already jacked up). A Surf is not light (around 2.25 tonnes) so a 3 tonne jack is better- remember to get 3 tonne axle stands too- the 2 tonne ones have a nasty tendancy to fold up under a Surf as I found out once.....

if only lifting 1 axle at a time then a 2 ton is sufficient, but a 3ton gives you more of a safety margin and will be a bit esier to lift. Also remember that when buying axle stands that 2ton stands are quoted as for the pair eg 1ton per stand.

Either will do, your not lifting the whole car of the ground in one go!

more important to get one with lots of lift, or you'll be stacking blocks to get it high enough in the air.
