  • help to get prices for parts

hiya....involved in an accident in my 2.4 td surf, and my insurers(axa via footman james)are arguing over availability of parts, trying to offer me peanuts as toyota cannot source the parts, can anyone help.??
i need prices and availability on front bumper, front bullbar, innerwing liner, front grille complete.
if there is more than one place that these places can be sourced please tell me the dearest!!
axa have been totally unhelpfull and are trying to force my hand to accept a quote from a garage who will try bang the dents out!!
my bumper is really hammered and is way past reconditioning.
axa said that this is acceptable for a car of this age!!and acceptable as an offer if parts cannot be sourced!!
what a joke, you pay a premium for a specialist vehicle insurance and then they treat you like i own a clapped out old banger!!
    many thanks guys

You are entitled to have the vehicle repaired to its pre accident condition , no better or worse then before . You entered into this contract with the Insurance co and you need to remind them of this . In the event of no new parts available it can be agreed thet 2nd hand can be fitted if of a good usable condition .In the event of no new or 2nd hand parts being available a cash substitute should be offered to you , ie the cost of the part so you can pursue it yourself and buy it when found .

If they start the old chestnut of 'We can not find the parts anywhere ' then consider the cash settlement and buy the parts and get your friendly garage to fit them for you .

mine was involved in an accident lasyt year .............. all the parts listed plus more were available through my toyota dealer and ALL were delivered within 2 days of ordering............ go down your toyota dealer, or if there funny about imports phone simms toyota in northampton as they sorted mine out, theyll at the very least quote you prices ............ youll be suprised how reasonable the genuine toyota parts are that youve listed, the only one that sounded slightly ott to me was the price of the inner wing .......... besides why have pattern parts when you can have genuine, with genuine toyota warranty on them

              SETTLE FOR NO LESS

Yoemans Toyota in Eastbourne have always been top class in getting parts for me, they even deliver parts to my house as long as I pay by credit card over the phone, not many dealers will do that.

I'm pretty sure that milners and roughtrax do most of your parts required

Bob - his truck is 92 so may be the old shape, so some parts will be different to the UK 4 Runner which was only sold in the "flush headlight" shape???
Still I had to speak to Toyota this morning about something else and they told me that they could get parts. They even managed to give us a part number for a clutch for our '84 4 runner a few weks ago (they would have supplied it in 2 days but we bought elsewhere to save wonger)

                          Insurance

Is the moral of this story not to go with Footman James? I tried them for insurance and they were very expensive...over £200 higher than Lifesure. They also didn't get back to me at the time agreed...
