service and engine oil

Hello Everyone. I will be doing my first service next week.
Well trying to anyway as I am giong to attempt it myself after reading all the helpfull threads from this Great Site.
Any more tips will be greatly appreciated.
What is the best oil to use??

any oil shoudl be ok really if its only in there for 5000kms Im using mobil at the mo but just bought a 20litre drum of no brand stuff 10w40

Just about to do mine for the second time. I use Castrol GTD Magnatec and find that good. Haven't had to add any since the last change. Also going to use a deisel engine flush this time just to make sure it's all cleaned out inside.
