  • 7" Touch screen in dash monitor

    Hi Techy heads,
I have been looking for one of these for a long time, I have had a dash mounted screen and then an indash lcd screen but want to upgrade to the touch screen. This is all for my in car computer which is slowly coming together (version 4 now).
Anyway I have finally found a couple of firms out there (Far east) that sell these things and they just sent me through some info and some prices. They look good but seem a bit expensive, any of you guys seen anything similar or are you interested in getting one. I am happy to order a few. They also do USB/Serial GPS units which I might get also.
    All Comments welcome.
    Cheers

The price for the GPS is good - I paid £80 for mine - but it will fit into a CF slot as well as take the mouse configuration...Bear in mind you will have to add customs charges/VAT & delivery on that price - so may not work out much cheaper that getting it in the UK...

I have very nice 7" in dash screen for my dvd player (you have to make use of that double din slot somehow..) - it cost me £50 from someone who was trying build a computer for his car... I believe he's on about version 4 now...

The screen might seem expensive, but a proper VGA, in dash motorised unit is virtually impossible to find, I reckon the prices you have been quoted are ok. Armen over at digitalww has been trying to get them in for over a year, when he last quoted a price they were US$650 or so. He is now stocking motorised units to fit your own screen into, this alone would cost $190
