I emailed mine to myself from a fictitious email address as I figured that I would just get heaps more spam/junk. It hasn't arrived. Does that mean that the senders address has to be valid?

Not sure, I sent mine to my address, but also using my address as the sender.

Its an MTV site, so there is not likely to be much in the way of spam.
