  • Flywheel

Hi, i've just had a new clutch fitted to my 1990 2.4td hilux surf but also need a flywheel, i've been quoted £500 supply only from the garage!
Where can i get one for a better price?
I saw Milners mentioned on this site but how do you contact them?

    But I have heard

    "Milners- closed.
    Roughtrax- closed till 10th Jan!!
Birmingham Motor Spares (aka Japanese 4x4 Parts)- closed."

P.S. why would you need a flywheel?

is there some teeth missing or have they broke it?

Milners list a new flywheel at £190 - just a bit less. If the old clutch was damaged it may be that the flywheel face is damaged - that's the usual reason for replacement. Milners also say in their catalogue that the LN130 flywheel breaks up.

You could alwasy try NWOR, they list some heavier flywheels... although their customer service leaves a little to be desired.
N57003 10lbs heavier than standard, apparently store more energy for low down power/torque.

If you have a new clutch and still have the old Dual Mass Flywheel you may find that if you get a new flywheel that is not a dual mass then you could possibly be up for another clutch kit as well. This is because the clutch for the dual mass may not fit a replacement (solid) flywheel. In Australia most go for the 3L - 2.8 ltr flywheel with a clutch kit to match or Daiken/Exedy do a solid conversion kit which requires the ring gear from the dual mass.I used the Daikin/Exedy kit but think the 3L conversion would have been better.
