I need to know what make the injector pump is on my 1994 3.0 td surf
as I cant see it.
looking at fitting an Elsbett convertion to run 100% veg but they want pump make. ECT Can YOU help
Sorry, Forest Pete, I'm no help. However, I've just bought a Surf and would be interested to know how your conversion goes. If you've time. I'd be grateful for your comments.

I believe the injector pump is a NipponDenso.
I have been thinking of a veg oil conversion recently. I have queeried a couple of companies and both say the Surf is suitable. However you need to do it properly and fit a heater for the veg oil as when cold it is too thick for the in jector pump and will block the filter/shag the pump. You start it on diesel then switch over to veg oil when warm. The switchover can be done automatically so it is not really a problem.
The biggest problem (it is what has stopped me from doing it so far) is a supply of veg oil
If you drop me an Email I will post you the URL's for the info that I have
Thanks for the pump info. I have looked into this a lot and the elsbett system is just one of the systems around at the moment.
I am looking for a system that runs on 100% vegy without the need to start/stop on dino and I think that this system does just that.
More surfing needed me thinks http://www.elsbett.com/engl/index.htm

As mentioned previously have been looking at converting to a two tank system but I would like to keep the existing tank for diesel as veggie oil in bulk may be hard to find and because I have the spare wheel carrier on the rear door there is a large space underneath to mount a veggie oil tank instead of carrying a tank inside the back. However I can't find anyone who would fit the tank underneath. The reason is probably it would be awkward to fill.
If you find anyone that would do an underfloor veggie tank I would appreciate it if you could let me know.
I have looked at the Elsbett site, (thanks for the URL) and they claim that if you run out of veggie oil mixing with diesel is no problem so it would appear to be the best way to go. Not sure from the site how they get around the fact that veggie oil is much thicker than diesel unless it is heated and would clog up the injectors

Among other things, they fit different injectors and a heating system. Their systems are recomended for use only with new oil.
I have completed the fitting of the Elsbett kit to my Surf! It was easy to fit and I can report that the motor is humming sweetly with a nice sweet smell of barbeque from the exhaust. I used an initial fill of 30 l of cooking oil from Lidl @ €.60/l to get to Rathdrum to collect a 1000 litre IBC of rapeseed oil.
I'll keep you posted with any further developments.

I had a word with my local Sainsbury's, they now have a standing order for me, I just collect from customer services and proceed to the checkout - and it's in 3 litre bottles that are quick to pour
