I once caught a guy dumping stuff in a country road (one of my pet hates ) and was about to go off on one. He was a carpenter and he had dumped three mahogony veneered doors The holes for the hinges had been drilled, presumably, in the wrong place. They now form the three sided desk in my radio room. Very macho, very darkwood, very thick desk tops and they dont bow a mm with all my heavy stuff on.......bargain.
Oh I was so excited at the find that I forgot the registration No of the van.

Am I the only one who's a little concerned that you have a "Radio" Room?

Following freezer van/ down A3 one day when the back doors came open not long after they did the crates in the back started falling out. Crates and their contents all over three lanes. I stopped as did a couple of other cars to clear the crates, only to discover the contents was whole large (and i mean large) fillets of finest Salmon. I had to leave all my tools on the hard shoulder to get the salmon in.
Filled car and i mean filled car with packs of salmon, in all i had managed to retrieve over 100 packs of salmon, i then set off to catch the van driver up but do you know what i just couldn't find him anywhere.
The only down side is i don't like salmon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!

I'm a licensed Radio Ham. Need strong tables for my vintage valve stuff and my test gear. Will post pics of my truck when I have all the aerials mounted. Should cause a laugh.

i also got 100ft of rope which i recovered from the trackrod end of a womans car, the other 100ft of it was so close to going under her back wheel. that would have been a really bad accident iff her back wheel went on it, she was doing around 75mph. managed to stop her, she was amazed she didnt see it in her mirror

Should that read, "I need strong tablets"?

All this talk about Ham & Salmon is making me hungry.
When I was a kid, A biscuit truck overturned outside my school. It was pretty nasty and they had to cut the driver out. The silver lining to this story was the recovery team were throwing all the boxes of Choccy biscuits over the fence to us hungry children. I took home 5 boxes of Penguins.

...ummm. maybe that has something to do with the fact I'm now 110kgs.

You have just reminded me of when the Green King drey shed its load at the top of the Barton Cutting (not far from Devils Pit). I was 13 and we had to do our civic duty (dib dib dib, dob dob dob). We helped to load the crates onto the replacement lorry. The driver gave us a crate of lemonade between us, as a thank you. He didn't know about the crates of St Edmunds Ale, Abbot an light ale stashed in the ditch. One hell of a hangover for a bunch of 13 year olds. Probably why I've only just remembered.

i saw a smirnoff lorry shift its load on the a10 and the police were helping reaload it into their van but i dont thing that it ever made it back to smirnoff by the look on the coppers faces and the speed it was going it to their van.
so much to do , so little money , so little time

I only ever found a tape meaure - its a good un though!!
By far the funniest "load shedding" story was the one, I think it was near/around Wales somewhere, a lorry had lost its load of cheese - the reporters had a great time with that one - apparently it was like a giant fondue!
And where the hell was I when the Green King lorry lost its load - missed out there!!
