  • Max Rolling Diameter, Tyre Size

    I've got a 1989 Surf with worn Bridgestone M&S 215/80/15 tyres.

Since my backend is slipping all over the place so it's time to replace these.

I do alot of 70mph driving and would like to decrease the revs at this sort of speed, so would like to increase the diameter of any new tyre I stick on.

I'm thinking of going to a road based tyre. Any favs?

What tyre size can I move up to?

What is the correct (by the book) tyre size for a 89 Surf SSR?

What is the max that can fit?

I like the look of FAT tires, is it ok to stick 265/70s on?, anyone done this?

    Cheers

    Hi Kiwi,

My surf has 265/70 BFG Tarmacadams on, and it has been as good as gold - if you want a closer look I am sure we can arrange that.

      Did it change the gearing?
How about your steering lock, did it decrease?

      Cheers

Nope, but I think she had them on before, I junked the tyres pronto when I got her (scittish and unknown age).

Feel free to call me on 07960 962981 or get the missus to contact me when she sees me in the office.
