I would love to redo my drivers seat and was wondering if I can get spares for the original seats (non Recaro) by any chance anywhere?

Refurb seats
Mathias,how do.
Not too sure what you actually want to do ,I am in the process of getting the right side of the drivers seat (backrest and squab)re upholstered,as this nearly always wears. The original material isnt available for mine, but I found some at a firm in Manchester (£10 a metre),near perfect match to the headlining though, not aproblem as I have seat covers fitted anyway.
The firm is called SEGAL and their number is 0161 834 7994,just off Deansgate in Manchester. There is also a refurb supplier in Middlewich(near Crewe)but not sure of their name.If it is the foam part of the seat that has deteriorated (gone crumbly) then you may have to find some odd bits off a market stall and glue, then shape by hand with a sharp knife or heated blade.
I will gladly send you a piece of the stuff I have if you want to compare, but as I said the original is possibly available from Toyota but at a price. If you want to have a look at the material I have, reply here or my email is

Dont ask,my daughter set it up for me,Regards, AlanLast edited by HONEST AL; 27 February 2011, 16:33.

Hi Alan,
thanks for your reply!
I actually would need the foam part of the bottom seat too. The upholstery is worn on the right wing of the drivers seat as usual but the foam under it doesn't feel comfy any more.
Maybe I check for some Recaro seats, a bit of a thing to get out of them as they are meant to keep you proper in the seat but top quality and spares usually available for a long time. Plus really comfy on longer journeys!
Regards

Dont know if you sorted your little problem but I am told that the two front seat squabs, the bit your ar"e fits on are interchangeable, wont solve the problem but it is a quick fix ,you could try and get a replacement from a scrapper, will keep my eyes open 4 u,I need one as well,Alan

Toyota list a seat base foam:
http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_J_199...QT_7151.2.html
Notice that LH and RH foam have a different part number.
Although who knows if ours are a seperate type. I will wait until I find a passenger seat from a LHD 4runner for good foam....
I too need to redo the sides of my drivers seat which is a very dark blue, nearly black, is this the same colour as yours?
If so do you have a reference for the fabric so I could order it?

Cheers but mine is a very dark blue almost black.
As I live in France I will eventually get a LHD passenger seat and then try to make a seat with the french foam, or just get decent covers

... but ebay scares me.
