cos it's broke...
...seriously there ain't much you can do when someat like that goes wrong. Try a lens cleaner but if that don't work chances are it'll want replacing.=========

will try a clean, i have got a good cd but the unit in me surf looks a pig to take out? cheers

my 4 runner does exactly the same, did engage the odd cd for a while but none at all now how annoying.
looks like after market but as the unit is a double size assume I will have to get a plastic adapter to fit a new single cd unitComment

o joy my mota failed m.o.t today, emissions and exhaust, garage gona sort it more money o wot a joy to own a surf.

if it was just borderline on the emissions, change the fuel filter, but before fitting the new one fill it with redex and drive it like you stole it for 10 minutes and get them to do the emissions test while it's still warm.=========
