Roof Rack Alternative

Having got let down by Halfrauds before leaving for Switzerland I needed a general roof rack quick. I saw a review for the Handirack in a ski magazine so I looked them up on the net. Seemed like a cheap alternative and was readily available (thank you London Beach Store, yes really).

£50, easy to fit, seemed rugged enough. Served us fine with 4 pairs of skis for 750 mile trip. Packs down to nothing.

They got slated on here not so long back with people taking the michael. One of the guys at work produced one from his car, fitted it, inflated and strapped a four door filing cabinet to the roof of his car.

I wonder if inflating them with helium would make the car lighter and offset the extra fuel consumption caused by the drag created by the object on the roof?
