  • Radio Expanders

Some of you have bought Surfs with the standard radio fitted from Japan still. These radios have a completly different frequency range to the radios in this country...There are some people who suggest putting a frequency expander in the aerial feedline is the answer, These are OK if you intend to stay in an area of a high output transmitter IE the national radio stations. For example there is a big transmitter at Wrotham Hill in Kent also Daventry plus other sites dotted around the country.

Do yourself a favour and save yourself a lot of grief in the long run and get a proper radio fitted, There is some manufacturers supplying this country with double din radios or alternatly you could go to your local dealer and get a dash pocket from a uk release pickup or Halfrauds do a pocket that does the job very. This gives you some where to put some bits and pieces and your house keys without them rolling around the centre consul.

This is only advice the expander suits some people but the signal to noise ratio on the expander against using a radio that is tuned directly is a big difference, espcially as you then get the radio diplaying the correct frequency and not something that is a few Mhz down.
