Anybody know where i can get hold of a decent stereo to fit the gapping hole in the dash of my 1996 3 ltr surf.

Don't worry about the massive hole (how many times have we been told that!!)

Pop down to local car audio shop, even Halfrauds if they've got any offers on & buy a decent single DIN unit and alsso an Autoleads universal cubby box to fit under it - fits a treat & looks perfect.

You might also need a adaptor lead to connect your new unit to the truck wiring loom, the shop does one or just get one when you buy the rest.
