  • 'Classic' 2.4

    Hello all.

I have accidentally bought another Surf, so my 2.4 is up for sale.

    It's a grey 91 J reg.

It has just been serviced by TonyN, has a Stevo cylinder head, a new crankshaft pulley and a leather steering wheel (off an MR2 and a distinct improvement on the grey plastic one). I put vents in the bonnet, but I have a spare bonnet that you can put on instead if you don't like 'em. The rear section of the exhaust has just been replaced.

It has a fresh MOT (to Aug 07) and is taxed to the end of November.

Everything works fine (except the aircon, which needs regassing) and I think it is in pretty good working order. Since having the head replaced it has been totally reliable and has defied my constant post-head paranoia and chugged along happily all summer.

It's pretty much perfect for someone who fancies a good base to start modifying it, or just a cheap, reliable 4x4.

It's on ebay, but I'd rather sell it at a fair price to someone on the forum than to a dealer who'll give it a clean, add 500 quid to it and flog it to someone else who won't look after it. I'll happily pull it from ebay if a forum member makes me decent offer.

If you want to make an offer, drop me a PM or email. I personally think 2k is about the mark for it.

    Thanks

I already accidentally bought half of ebay.

It was only an accident in so much as it wasn't what I intended to do when I woke up that morning. You know how it goes: fancy a V6, see a V6, buy a V6, wonder what to do with 2.4

As I said before, give me a shout (or just bid) if you're interested.

          Thanks.

I would, but the only reason it HAS to go is that I can't get a permit to park two. Otherwise I'd be keeping it purely for sentimental reasons (and out of stubborness because I've spent the best part of two grand on it in six months and I don't want to 'lose' the money).

Thanks for the offer though. You weren't planning to smash my lovely motor up offroading it to death were you?

Well boys and girls, he's gone, he's been ebayed. 1,660 in the end, for anyone who has a morbid desire to know these things. Shame, I'll miss the old fella . I just hope the charming sounding lady that's buying him is going to continue the good fight.

There is, however, the matter of the V6 I just picked up and had disgraceful amounts of fun driving back home

Yeah, not bad at all for ebay. There's others on there going for 600 and stuff so it seems it was worth writing an essay on why it's good to get one with the head sorted.

I was thinking of cruising down tomorrow, but it would be one of those spur of the moment things. Probably not going to happen, in which case best wishes to all. Have a burger and an inappropriate amount of Stella for me.
