Hi,

My surf won't start due to not starting .... I could tell by the fact that it wouldn't move It was minus 4C so I guess the batteries just sulked. I know I can put them on charge, and the alternator seems to be charging ok according to dials when running, but ..... I looked at the batteries and there is a sticker that says "2004" - I guess this might be a clue to their age.

Another thing, when I do turn on the ignition, the little red coil sign flashes out almost as fast as I blink ....

And yet another thing, I went to pull up the pulling thing to bring the nearside rear seat flat only no pulling thing in evidence! Seems that there is metal rod with a threaded end, so...

The model is Y-KZN130W-GKPQT

So, have you got any bits that might be of use? I can buy online a pair of batteries for about £65 each but have not inquired as to whether they can be got handed (if the applies) .....Before spending money, thought I'd see if you got anything.

I'm having the beast serviced on Monday so stand bu for more requests

the glow plug light your on about will only flash few a split second.Leave the ignition on and count to 10 or until you hear a relay click on the n/s inner wing.This will indicate the glowplugs are up to temp then start the truck.You may find that the glowplugs are knackered and you will need to get some new ones as this seems to be the problem this year with alot of trucks including mine.
I will have a look at the passenger seat i got here to see if that lever actually comes off or if yours is broken.Once you get the truck started get the batteries checked before buying new ones as it could be the alternator not charging properly.Also check the belts that they are at the right tension as this will prevent the batteries charging properly.
As you say the truck is going for a service so they should check everything anyway but ask them to check the batteries anyway.

To test to make sure the alt is working right you should get 13.5 - 14.5v across with the engine running...worth a go as Rich said before forking out for batteries

Would you have the offside rear plastic sill panel (grey plastic carpet to door seal cover on the floor of rear side door area (at bottom of B pillar!))?
The rear cup holder?
The front ash tray?
