Hi and welcome! …… I just had the fuel pump reconditioned on mine a little while back and ended up getting Lawson’s diesel up beside Newhaven to do it. Nice bunch of folk and they did a really good job but was just a bad time to have to spend the cash!

          Good luck!

Hi all thanks for the welcome, well the job had to be cut short unfortunately, I managed to change all seals that i could with the pump in place but have had to start putting it all back together as my other vehicle was sold today and this is now my only car left! however, i am still waiting on the solenoid repair kit for my starter, does anyone know if these are any good? thanks

Hello, Brian. Welcome to the forum. The solenoid kit ( From Roughtrax ) worked a treat on mine.

Morning Brian & no probs, it was:

Steven at Lawson’s Diesel (Steven), that sorted it out and they are the only Denso specialists in this area.

                    Here it goes…

Picked up from the house and delivered to their garage £70 (couldn’t drive it & picked up with another contactor who was very cheap at short notice to pick it up)

Ok pump stuff... all in £'s...would have cost a lot less to obviously do it myself ...or get a second hand one but didnt have the time or facilities & to be honest at least its one less thing to worry about

                    Pump removal 138

                    Full pump recon 250

Re-install was included in the removal labour charge.

The whole thing was done in a day and as it was, I had previously changed the top seals on the pump but the rest were so brittle that putting a good one on put pressure on them and they gave up, hence more leaks after fixing the original one.

The guy that fixed it had mentioned another part on the pump that may require replacing...something to do with the cold start if it was on that type of pump…. but that was an optional fix for 160 ....apparently didn’t need doing though.

With reference to the starter, I also replaced the one on the truck I have just got rid off but opted for a new one for about 90….just to save any dramas but by all accounts the roughtrax refurb works a treat if you have the time and workspace.

Just thinking about it and you aren’t actually really that far away for myself (Colington, just off the bypass).

                    Rob

ok thats not as bad as i was expecting tbh, thanks for all the info, I'll see how i get on with the seals that I have already replaced, as i said i've had to put it all back together now, however, my starter kit did not arrive so looks like it will be monday before i can see if i've atleast slowed the leak down a bit!

I think i will definitely be getting it reconditioned though, its a trusty reliable truck which deserves some tlc from time to time lol

Yeh im just in livingston so if i'm thinking of the right place then i'm only about 30 mins or so away from yourself

once again thanks for the price breakdown

No probs Brian & yea in my own opinion it was worth doing the refurb on the pump as at least it one thing out the way!

Sounds about right with the distance to Livingstone, im down in the Borders day to day but if you need a hand with the truck just give me a shout.
