  • Surf 1 - Pick up 0 - London LEZ Warning

just been highlighted to this from another forum..

Basically the London Low Emission Zone is changing

from 2012 smaller diesel powered vehicles fall foul of the changes

    more info here..

    LINK

    and here

    Link

also there is a reg checker to see what qualifies HERE

some confusion lies in one of the descriptions..

This deferred phase of the Low Emission Zone will affect the following:
Minibuses - with more than 8 seats, plus the drivers seat below 5 tonnes Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW)
Larger vans - between 1.205 tonnes unladen and 3.5 tonnes GVW
Motorised horse boxes (between 1.205 tonnes unladen and 3.5 tonnes GVW)
Motorised caravans between 2.5 tonnes and 3.5 tonnes GVW
Other specialist vehicles derived from vans and minibuses

So I randomly searched ebay for Hilux and picked at random 2 year matched vehicles - a 91 2.4 were near the top, so that did it

the Pick up is a fail and falls foul of the 2012 changes
the surf is clear and is ok

I'm guessing this is because the surf is classed as 'Car' and the pick up is classed a commercial vehicle..

Anyway - really sorry if this is a re-post

but worth reminding yourself to check your vehicle reg before entering London

Thanks, but I'll never want to go to London anyway.

This has been noted before but it all depends on what your surf has been classified under, either an Estate or a Utility 4x4.

My log book states my surf is a Utility 4x4 so according to the link you provided is non compliant so you will have to check your vehicles carefully. Some will pass, others will not.

            I agree with that entirely

We have an older transit that does the london deliveries as it gets a scrape or a dent every week - plan was to run it into the ground - looks like we'll have to get a new one now...

I also have family who live just inside the M25 and pop up that way regularly..

                I'm a northerner darn sarf...

dont forget tho, if this is succesfull inside the M25 - how long before it gets introduced t big towns - Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol, Nottingham, Manchester etc etc all have 'ring roads' that it could be introduced within..

Scarey thought - its already in place in germany and other EU countries..

The "low emmision sign avoidance" signage is a very thought out diversion route which takes you to the nearest roundabout and diverts you to the same exit of which you entered the roundabout. From this point forwards there are no further signs and you are on your own.
                  Oh Nana, what's my name?

                    Cardiff doesn't, nor does Newport.
