  • Overboosting problem

    Hi guys

ive been here a while trying to get the information to sort out my new truck but have come up against a problem that i need some advice for.

    i have a 1992 ssr-x hilux surf with 2.4 td engine. (LN130 2L-TE).

basicly i have an overboost problem from what i can gather from reading other threads and info from other sites. my turbo runs up and i get the green light in the rev counter then as it hits approx 2800 rpm the overboost cut out kicks in and i get the orange/red check light in the rev counter come on.

i have installed a boost gauge which is taking pressure from the turbo pressure sensor by the air cleaner and it is getting up to about 10-15 psi max (im not sure how accurate the gauge is)

other posts and websites (toyotasurf.asn.au) have instructed to check all the vacuum and turbo pressure lines which i have done and all are connected with no splits or holes. i have applied 10 psi direct to the waste gate actuator which appears to operate correctly and hold pressure. the actual waste gate is free to move and not siezed and the heat shield removed to prevent any fouling on the actuator arm. there a no washers fitted to the waste gate to increase boost pressure.

is there a way that i can wind the boost back or to reduce it some how i cant seem to find any information on this most people seem to post about increasing boost.

i have not read the dtc as i was under the impression the dtc operates the main check engine light and not the turbo check light.

also my egr is blocked at the minifold side and will be removed in the next few weeks when i fabricate a decent exhaust blank.

any help would be really appreciated

    thanks peeps
