Assuming this is a 3rd gen gearbox, where on the torque converter would you take the measurement (17mm) from the straightedge too, I am also assuming the torque converter its not a flat surface.
Normally the shoulders on the bolt holes (or it was on Vauxhalls).
When the TC is fitted, it's easy to 'feel' it locating properly.
The gearbox is out again. They took off the bell and pump housing and the pump is sheared inside, the garage are picking up the bill for the repair.
They did leave the TC connected to the flex plate, so I hopefully when they get a new pump things will go better. At least they are getting plenty of practice taking surf gearboxes out.
