gearbox trouble

hi i was was wondering if anyone could help me i have a auto hilux but have a problem with the gearbox , it goes in to reverse fine no problem but wont go in too drive or it will but got to give it a lot of revvs.
its really puzzled me and i jusy cant seem to work it out,
