locking differentials

as im new to the site i assume this question has probably been asked before but i wouldnt know where to look. i have a 2nd gen surf and am looking to get some kind of locking front and rear diffs so off roading is more enjoyable! i have seen the ARB air lockers but seem a bit pricey and have seen automatic lockable diffs front and rear for a lot more of a reasonable price but have read reviews that they take a bit of getting used to. the front shouldnt be a problem as will only come engaged by torque when in 4WD and will be off road so not a problem but the rear will be engaged when in 2WD and on the road. i was wondering if any one has fitted automatic locking rear diffs and how they perform on / off road?
