  • Turbo timer wiring problems

I have a turbo timer and have some issues with how it is wired, it came with the vehicle when I got it. It is an aftermarket type with a choice of 1,3,5 minutes and a cancel switch and a little on/off switch on the side
    1. When it is turned on and I turn the key to from off ACC the ignition comes on
    2. When it is turned off and I turn the key from off to ACC the ignition does not come on.
    3. When it is turned on with the engine running and I turn the key to off the engine still runs, as it should for the set time. Everything else (stereo etc ) goes off. However the glow plugs come on and stay on for the whole minute or 3 or 5. Remember I have directly wired a lamp from the glow bar so I know when they are on. For cold starts about 7 seconds I can hear the click too.

Now I figure that 1 minute plus heating on the plugs is not good for them let alone my batteries.
Can anyone who has a timer tell me which wires near the key it should be wired into.
Any help on this one is good.
    Thanks.

    EDITED
I have given up on this one.

After reading a bit more about timers and the need for them I have decided to do away with the long cool downs that I used to do.

Now I just use the timer so that I can leave the engine running without the keys in, locked of course, when I duck into the corner store for essentials.
