transfer case noise

have a problem with the TC! i have deducted its the TC because there was knocking noise getting faster as travelling faster so thought its on the drive train then took out the front drive shaft and knocking stopped then put into 4WD and knocking started so through limited mechanical experience have thought that the bearing or cogs or something that connects the front wheels in the TC has busted

anyone had this problem before can it be fixed or is it a recon r look in the wanted ads of the forum??
