butcher'd stereo ! ! !
whoever had my surf before me was nothing less than a THUG !
HE/SHE.......it... had wired a stereo(not there when i bought it) and in doing so
had cut the 12v in lead out of the original conecter along with the front speaker wires too.....then run new cables to the rear (original speakers) and added new speakers in the front doors by splicing into the original front speaker cables
WHAT A MESS !
after taking what seemed to be the entire interior trim out and simply re-connecting the original cables(thankfully left in place) not all with connectors though(BUTCHER)
I used a stereo adapter i got from a surf in the scrapyard near here ! an original jap aftermarket adaptor (all the tags written in jap) though the colours are the same as the set standard ! ! ! cut the extra cables to the rear and used them for the additional door speakers ! ! 
anyway.......... plugged it all in.......AND..... RUDDY HELL IT's LOUD ! ! ! !
those standard speakers are OK! !..... i think ! ! !
i could here the stereo over the engine around 35ft from the truck ! ! !
well worth all the effort ! ! !
