Hi all, long time reader first time poster.
I've recently purchased a 94 surf and have a bit of a hard time hot starting. Engine might crank over 10-15 times before it eventually gets going with a puff of grey smoke (assuming unburnt fuel from all the cranking). Interesting thing is it doesn't struggle at all cold/warm (running less then 10 minutes) and will go in 1-2 cranks. Previous owner wired in a momentary switch to the glow plug relay so i assumed this could be the problem and replaced them, this hasn't helped the problem. I've checked all the fuel lines for leaks (will check for air leaks next) and the starter seems to crank hard enough when hot. I should also mention the car run perfectly outside of this issue.
Any advice would be much appreciated
Cheers
Edit: I've just run a diagnostic and I'm getting code 32, referencing fuel pump resistor. I would assume if there is an issue with the fuel pump it would also affect driving ie stalling/misfires
