Hey, I was on this forum and had a surf about 10 years ago. Changed my email and can't remember my login so made a new account. I used to have a 2nd gen 2.4 2 door with a 5spd manual.
Now I am looking into importing a 3rd gen with the 3.0L KZ engine and have some questions. I want a manual due to increased fuel economy, no "SMOD" to worry about, and my wife and I both enjoy driving stick. That said we have grown to appreciate the center diff and AWD mode of our current vehicle and agree that the multi-mode system with center diff would be a great benefit during our winters here in Canada. I haven't been able to determine what trim or configurations have the multimode 4wd system vs the regular part time 4x4 transfer case, just that some have it and some don't. On the North American 4runners I believe the multimode system was only available with auto trans and the manuals got the basic transfer case and only on lower trim. Any insight?
