My turbo diesel surf will start well and idle well after sitting overnight. I drive to town, to shop say, and it catches then begins idling faster and slower. I can keep it going by pressing on the accelerator, but the condition gets worse and it will die if I stop at a stop sign and don't keep the idle speed up around 1500 or so. Have been told it is probably a fuel pump problem. Cost of repair is prohibitive and I'm thinking of giving the vehicle up. Would appreciate any discussion about this. The surf owes me nothing, and runs well on the highway.
