Its not that simples.....

It would require either a boundary change again, or each mp being worth x amounts of votes per population, per area per mp voted in.Its a mega expensive change....just what britain needs right now, after the electoral commision quango costs billion anyway. And all this so a minority group grasps power.

I would expect a LOT more interest to be shown this time. There is one voting reform im in favour of (which i believe exists in australia), where if you are eligible,you are legally required to vote.
Voter apathy is the biggest winner here. Would we vote the same again...its the first time its happened in 30 years, perhaps this might spur the population on to exercise their vote in a different manner. We face a really big challenge, whoever wins, in getting the economy back on track. This prevarication is just the last thing this country needs right now...or indeed at any time.

let's face it, we all want Brown out and are desperate for some small hope and changes.

I personally hate Labour for what they have done but I ain't a Tory or Lib Dem supporter!

I would rather have Father Dougal Maguire as prime minister, he couldn't possibly be as bad as Gordon The Liar!

Our politicians have generally proven themselves to be unworthy our votes over the past few years.

I trust none of them and I firmly believe that the are ALL in it for the money/power trip!

The problem is that LibDem are generally left of Labour these days. Personally, my preference would be for someone, anyone, to form a minority government and for all MPs to vote according to what they believe in, rather than the party line. That's what we actually elect them to do.

How about the only coalition that has any realistic chance of working? Why don't they just do that. The main problem with this 'rainbow coalition' is that there isn't a hope in hell of it lasting until the ink is dry. It's like asking Rangers and Celtic to put up a joint team.
The only thing they can do is a con/libdem alliance, they don't have to enjoy it, they dont have to get all their pet projects up and running on day one, but they do have to crack on and start getting us out of the mire. the rest can be sorted out later, with a bit of luck...

At lest you've got someone in charge. It's worse when there's no overall control and all they do is score points instead of making decisions.

Spot on Sancho 1here in Donny all they want to do is get rid of the 'elected mayor' obviously not labour !

Not quite right.

Labour get wind of the fact that Clegg and Cameron can't do a deal so tell Gordon to stand down as the last role of the dice. Clegg is now in a much stronger position with Cameron because he would be willing to team up with Labour so he can give Cameron a harder time. Cameron has to decide whether he's going to give in to Clegg.

Meanwhile Labour are on the phone to the SNP, Plaid, the Greens and a few weird Irish parties who all want the same thing trying to find enough support so that they would have a majority if the LibDems came to play.

Clegg will play both sides off against each other but neither wants to give him anything.

I'll probably end up with another election being called in a week's time or Cameron deciding to run a minority government.

The LibDems won't change the way we vote without recourse to the people - they were proposing a referendum on it, not an immediate change.

Labour have just offered IMMEDIATE reform to the voting system, in a bid to cling onto power. This is a sheer affront not to any political process, but democracy itself.

It reeks of nepotism...badly. JHust like the maastricht treaty, and the lisbon treaty...keep on voting till you get the result you want. And as for no one winning the election...true. But why should the two parties who came last and very last, govern.

However the real bit that sticks in our gullet up here is; Doncaster council (no overall control) Now has a Labour majority ! Barnsley had a slim council labour majority of one seat Now we have a majority of 5? Vote for change ? when was that then ?

Just when we were told that the dust will settle after the general election we have just been told to not send any more bids to Government Office and we have dates for another possible General Election !!! Technically speaking, the Queen can ask anyone she believes will be able to form a majority government to do just that.
BTW - Gordon is still the PM
