I am collecting a Surf from a fellow member when I come over in 2 weeks so will have plenty of room for the reloading gear if you managed to sort it out.

No probs Rich - unless you're flying ....

The big press is mainly lightweight aircraft alloy BUT it has a massive steel ram so it weighs a fair bit !

Let me know when and where you're coming over and we'll see what we can sort out

Will be in an 806 so plenty of room on the 4th Feb. (I want to come over for a Surf at some point too)
Am also trying to find a safe if you know of one reasonable price.
Preferably deep enough to leave sights on and hold 4 or 5 rifles you never know I may find the money for more.

The trouble with pistols is that you get through ammo a lot faster than you do with a rifle - on a typical match weekend I'd get through:

135 rounds .22lr
70 rounds .32S&WL
120 rounds .45acp

On a 'proper' practise day I'd get through 200 rounds of .22 and the same in .32 and if I was playing with the toys I'd be in excess of 500 rounds mixed

Using the big press I could produce 500 rounds an hour if it was setup for 'fully automatic' but I used to do some operations by hand to improve consistency so I'd be down to around 200 rounds per hour....

As I said I am new to the sport. First day I went for a look at the local club I had a go with a 9mm Beretta and CZ75 and was hooked. Really liked the Beretta.
I have also had a go with a Glock 17 (found the grip a bit big for me)
Last week GSG5 .22 and that was really good fun.
Hopefully they will bring an M4 for me to play with soon
From the start my groupings have been fairly good and am keen to learn more and keep shooting.
I have to wait approx 5 months before I can get the paperwork etc sorted out then only money holding me back but the guys there are willing to lend me there firearms until then. Every time I shoot something different I want that one too

None of mine was immaculate - they all got worked pretty hard !

I shot UIT at international level with the .177, .22 & the .32 and the others were just for fun - the Webley would hold a 3" group at 25m using the .45 cylinder (Not bad for a revolver made in 1917 - the only blueing left on it was under the grips !)

Rbaz, The reloading gear I have left includes a Wamadet single station press and a Hornady Projector (5 station) but there's no reloading dies as the thieving sods couldn't avoid paying compensation for them !)

When I've got the time I'll dig it out and send you a list - if you're going to be reloading for auto calibres then you'll definitely want a case trimmer and I'm fairly certain I've got one in the loft somewhere !

I am new to all this only recently found out you could own serious firearms here. The guys at the club I go to are a good bunch and willing to teach me whats what. I need to reload as you are limited to the amount of rounds you can buy each year (as well as the cost) think its 3000s rounds a year.
Anything you have that I can use I would be interested in
Could I not buy replacement dies for it in France?
I am in the UK in Feb so could maybe arrange collection etc then.

It is finding the time to reload that is the problem. At one stage I was reloading:

.38/357mag
.308
7.62x39
.375H&H
.45/70

I have several .22 rimfires so obviously buy ammunition for those. Also have a number of muzzle loading pistols including a tiny .31 Derringer, not very accurate, but good fun.

I can't believe all that nice hardware was scrapped. I reccon the home office sold all the handguns to international arms dealers in order to fund the compensation.
I had, all in an immaculate condition, Colt Python .357 mag, S&W.38 airweight, Browning 9mm & a couple of .22 rimfires. Though the comp was not unreasonable, it went now way towards stopping me feeling bitter about having to hand everything in at the nick.
And of course, as all of us FAC holders know. the whole exercise did wonders for reducing armed crime......

Different makes have different accuracy levels some can have blockages in certain rifles (although you probably cant have semi auto in UK) miss fires etc.

Funny old day. Went to Gun Shop to buy some new wellies, £100 later got my boots. Thought I would enquire about Ammunition for my rifle, it so happens they are now selling ex Serbian Sniper Ammo for my .243 for £9.00 for 20, 105 grain what a bargain as I have been paying up to £30. Well off to Kynoch underground range at Lakenheath next week to see how they perform !

Don't mention reloading !!!!!

I've still got a shedload of reloading kit that the Government refused to pay compensation for after they banned pistols - their reasoning was that it could be used for reloading for rifle calibres ...

The fact that it's not particularly economic to spend hundreds of pounds on reloading kit unless you shout thousands of rounds was completely ignored as was the fact that the huge glut of secondhand reloading kit reduced the value to pennies

I live in France and pistols (and anything else for that matter) are still legal with the right licenses etc.
I would be interested in buying what you have if you wanted to get rid of it would be going to a good home and will get used
I am getting a 9mm pistol soon (when the red tape is sorted) so want to start reloading
